FCCLA Spotlight
Ouachita High FCCLA, Arkansas
OHS FCCLA Members helped launch the “Be the Light” program to mentor and inspire elementary students. This student-driven initiative was created to teach positive behaviors and leadership skills to young students. Each session includes a study period, a values and morals lesson, a recap with a healthy snack, and an exploration station featuring STEM, 3D printing, culinary skills, and more. Participants earn “Be the Light Bucks” for acts of kindness and teamwork, which they can use at the "Lighthouse Store" to purchase items like clothes, hygiene products, and school supplies.
Entirely conceived and led by FCCLA Members, the program has grown from three to seven participants, with a goal of reaching twenty. The “Be the Light” program embodies the FCCLA mission and inspires future generations by fostering leadership, kindness, and community engagement.
